BLOCK CLASSES:
Today in class we reviewed the executive branch learning targets and took notes on bureaucratic growth and policy making and influences on bureaucratic decision making.  in 3/4 block we also took notes on presidential leadership.

The homework is to study for Wednesday's test. 

SKINNY:
Today in class we reviewed the learning targets for Chapter 4 and completed questions about the states rights point of view v. the nationalists point of view.  If you were absent, get a copy of the assignment from the Monday folder and turn in for a grade. 

The homework is to read the Clean Air Act Case study.

The test will be this week.

BLOCK CLASSES
Wednesday - Today in class we watched a video clip about presidential pardons.  We also took notes on the Executive Office of the President AND identified the responsibilities of EOP agencies.

There is no homework.  The executive branch test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.

Thursday/Friday - Happy Thanksgiving!

SKINNY
Wednesday - Today in class we watched a Thanksgiving video clip, as well as the presidential pardon of the 2015 Thanksgiving Turkey.  We also corrected last night's homework.

There is no homework.  Test will be next week.

Today in class we took notes on the Roles of the President and the federal bureaucracy.  We also worked to identify the responsibilities of the 15 cabinet departments.

Today in class we took notes on the process of admitting new states.

Homework:  Complete the guided reading for pages 106-108.

Today in class we read Article II, identified the expressed powers/responsibilities of the president, took notes on the expansion of presidential power, and identified the limits on the president. 

The homework is to read Chapter 9, Section 2 and pages 276-279.


SKINNY:
Today in class we reviewed McCulloch v. Maryland and took notes on the Supremacy Clause, the obligations of the national government to the states, the obligations of the states to the national government, and interstate relations.

The homework is to read pages 99-100 and 106-108.

Complete the essay assignment:

  • Use essay form (paragraphs and complete sentences).
  • Neatness counts.
  • Do your best work.
  • Cite your evidence.
Should the Electoral College be reformed?
If yes, provide at least two reasons of support (evidence) explaining WHY it should be reformed AND explain HOW it should be reformed.  Defend your answer, including a defense of your reform plan.
If no, provide at least three reasons of support (evidence) that it should not be reformed.  Defend your answer.
 
SKINNY:
If you were absent, answer the questions at the end of the McCulloch v. Maryland case study and get the notes from a friend.

Today in class we continued our study of the Electoral College.  If you were absent:
1.  Get the Electoral College Reform notes from a friend. 
2.  Identify potential weaknesses of each reform plan. 

SKINNY:
Today in class we reviewed delegated, reserved, denied, and concurrent powers.  We also went over the video questions from Monday.  If you were absent, be sure to get the video notes from a friend.   Finally, we read a case study, McCulloch v. Maryland.  Copies of the case study are in the Thursday folder in the classroom.

Today in class we took notes on the Electoral College and analyzed documents related to the Electoral College. 

Homework:  Identify one pro or con of the Electoral College from each document in your packet. 

SKINNY:
Today in class we completed the Federalism Power Chart on page 79 of your binder (using Chapter 4, Section 1 of your textbook).  

The homework is to finish the chart (if necessary) and to read Chapter 4, Sections 1 and 2.
