Wednesday - NO SCHOOL (Snow)

Thursday - On Thursday we completed our 3.2 chart and took notes on the Formal Amendment Process.

On Tuesday we created a Checks and Balances diagram and discussed the relationship between checks and balances and judicial review.  We also studied 3.2, looking at the powers of the three branches, how the branches have changed since the time of the founding, and the conflicts between the branches.

Homework:  Complete the 3.2 chart through the executive branch.  If you finished this in class today, there is no homework.


Friday, February 25th

On Monday we identified the structural components of the Constitution and took notes on the 6 principles of the Constitution.  We also read the Marbury v. Madison case study.

Homework:  Read 3.2.

On Friday we discussed current events AND started our study of Chapter 3.  Be sure to get a copy of the learning targets and vocabulary from the Friday folder.

No new homework, but remember to turn in your PowerSchool print-out if you haven't done so yet.

On Wednesday we finished our study of Chapter 2.

If you were absent, be sure to complete the individual assignment on the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists and the timeline activity (both are in the Wednesday folder).

Monday - No School (Professional Development Day)

Tuesday - On Tuesday we finished the Articles of Confederation chart on page 38 of the binder.  We also discussed the similarities and differences between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution of the United States.  We also studied the reasons the Anti-Federalists were opposed to ratification of the Constitution and the reasons the Federalists were in favor of ratification of the Constitution.

The homework is to study for the Chapter 2 Test.  The test is on Thursday.

Friday, February 15th

On Friday we discussed Shays' Rebellion and took notes on the influences on the Constitution and the Constitutional Convention.  We also identified the similarities and differences between the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan.

Test is Wednesday (tentative).

On Thursday we reviewed the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and watched a video about Shays' Rebellion.

The homework is to read Chapter 2, Section 4.
