HW: Test tomorrow; Essay due on Thursday.
Today in class we completed our study of Chapter 1. We took notes on Economic Systems, and then worked in cooperative groups to identify the differences between capitalism, socialism, and communism. We also reviewed for tomorrow's test.
HW: Test tomorrow; Essay due on Thursday. Today in class we took notes on the characteristics of democracy, identified the characteristics that make democracy more likely, and defined the Core Democratic Values. An essay assignment was also assigned. If you were absent, get the assignment from the Monday folder AND see me for a topic.
Test is Wednesday. Essay is due Thursday. Today in class we watched clips from last night's Republican debate. We also discussed the homework assignment from Wednesday night. Also....

Today in class we watched a video "Government and You" and learned about the different forms of governent that exist around the world. Be sure to get the notes from a friend. The homework is to read Chapter 1, Section 4. Also remember that you need to have a 3 ring binder by Monday and that the first test is scheduled for Tuesday. 4th Block Today in class we took notes on the concept of the state, the four theories on the origin of the state, and forms of government. Tuesday, January 24th Today in class we: 1. Went over the class syllabus and course requirements/expectations 2. Received a textbook 3. Completed a pre-test for the course 4. Completed the following short writing assignment (use complete sentences): What is a government? Why is it important to study government? 5. Took notes for Chapter 1 (What is a government? Why is it important to study American government?). The homework is: 1. Try to watch at least a few minutes of the State of the Union address (9:00 PM). 2. Read Chapter 1, Section 1 and complete the Chapter 1, Section 1 worksheet. 3. Get a three ring binder by Monday. 4. Ch. 1 Test - Tentative - Tuesday. Monday - No School (Teacher Work Day)

Today in class we discussed the federal budget process. We also completed the following short writing assignment:
What is a deficit? What is a debt? What is a balanced budget? Is it important for the U.S. to have a balanced budget? Why or why not? What is the best method for balancing the budget? Why do you prefer this method? Explain. Reminder: Quiz on Tuesday. Today in class we continued our study of economic policy. We studied the various sources of revenue for the federal government.
The quiz over economic policy will be on Tuesday. The final exam is on Friday, January 20th. |
