BLOCK:
Today in class we watched clips of last night's debate and a clip about the Iowa Caucus.
We also took notes on the Soil of Democracy.  If you were absent, be sure to get these from a friend.

In 3/4 block we also discussed the characteristics of democracy and reviewed CDVs.

The homework is to have a 3 ring binder by Monday, and to read Chapter 1, Section 4 by Monday.  

Please read Chapter 1, Section 2 for Tuesday.

The test will be next week (Wednesday or Thursday).

SKINNY:

If you were absent today you missed the test over the legislative branch.  Please make arrangements to make-up the test.

Today in class we reviewed the purposes of government and took notes on authority, legitimacy, and forms of government.  If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend.  

Homework:  Read pages 20-23 and identify the characteristics of democracy;  Please have a three ring binder by Monday.

Reading for next week:
Read Chapter 1, Section 4 for Monday.
Read Chapter 1, Section 2 for Tuesday.

Test should be Wednesday or Thursday of next week. 

SKINNY:
Today in class we discussed pros and cons of term limits, reviewed how a bill becomes a law, and prepared for tomorrow's test. 

Homework:  Study for tomorrow's test.

BLOCK CLASSES:
Today in class we discussed the concepts of nation, state, and nation-state.  If you were absent, read pages 5 and 6 and define the terms state, nation, and nation-state.  You will also want to get the notes from a friend.  You will also need to read pages 9-11 and identify the four purposes of government.

There is no homework, but you should be prepared for a Chapter 1 test next week. 

SKINNY CLASSES:
Today in class we identified reasons for and against Congressional term limits. 

HW:  
1.  Come to class tomorrow with FOUR reasons for and FOUR reasons against term limits.
2.  If necessary, complete binder p. 117.  Chapter 7, Section 1 will help you. 
3.  Review the legislative branch learning targets.  Be prepared with questions. 

​Test is Friday.

2.  Reviewed the guidelines for the notebook.
3.  Set goals for the course (worksheets are in Tuesday folder;  Please complete and turn in for a grade.)
4.  Received a textbook.
5.  Completed a pre-test.
6.  Took notes.

If you were absent, please get copies from the Tuesday folder, get the notes from a friend, and see me to make arrangements to take the pre-test.

SKINNY:

Today in class we reviewed the learning targets for the legislative branch.  We also completed p. 124 of the binder.

BLOCK:  Today in class we completed our study of civil rights and civil liberties.  We also reviewed for the final exam.
The exam is Thursday for 3/4 block and Friday for 5/6 block.  
Voter Registration Extra Credit is due on the day of the exam. 

SKINNY:  Today in class we finished the notes on staff and support agencies.  We also took notes on incumbency and started an individual assignment for Chapter 7.

BLOCK - Today in class  we finished our study on the First Amendment and on the rights of the accused.  
Reminders:  Extra Credit letter due tomorrow;  Voter Registration EC due on the day of the exam;  Exams scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

SKINNY:
Today in class we finished our notes on the non-legislative powers of Congress and started our study of the staff and support agencies that assist Congress. 
There is no homework.
The mid-term is scheduled for Friday.

BLOCK:  Today in class we identified the rights and responsibilities of citizens, as well as ways citizens can participate in government.  We also took notes on rights/liberties and freedom of religion.  If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend.

On Wednesday we finished our study of political socialization/public opinion started our study of the role of the media in government.
If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend.

On Thursday we finished our study of the role of the media in government and took notes on the process of becoming a citizen.   If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend. 

There is no homework, but remember that the extra credit is due next week and the final exam is next week. 

SKINNY:
On Wednesday we discussed the State of the Union address.

On Thursday we reviewed How a Bill Becomes a Law and then discussed the expressed powers of Congress and the denied powers of Congress. 

There is no homework.  The midterm is next Friday.
