Today in class we:
1.  Finished the notes on the Forms of Government
2.  Read pages 20 - 23 of the textbook
3.  Identified the Characteristics of Democracy and defined the Core Democratic Values
4.  Took notes on the "Soil of Democracy" and "Economic Systems".  If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend (Papers are in the Friday folder in the classroom).

Homework:
Extra Credit Book Covers are due on Monday.
Remember that the test will be on Tuesday, February 2nd.

Today in class we watched a clip of the State of the Union Address and discussed.  We also took notes on the Forms of Government.  If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend.

The homework is to read Chapter 1, Section 4 of your textbook.  Also, remember that you need a three ring binder by tomorrow.  Book Covers (for Extra Credit) are due on Monday.

Today in class we:
-  Discussed and took notes on the conept of the state, the characteristics of a state, and the four theories on the origin of the state.  We also discussed how a "state" is different from a "nation" and from a "nation-state".
-  Identified the purposes of government.
-  Watched the video "Government and You".

The homework is
1.  Read Chapter 1, Section 2 and complete the accompanying worksheet.
2.  Remeber that your test is tentatively scheduled for 2.2.10.
3.  Get a three ring binder by Friday.
4.  You may get a book cover for extra credit.

Today in class we:

-  Went over the syllabus and classroom expections;  Discussed notebook requirements.
-  Received a textbook.
-  Completed the following short writing (answer in complete sentences/question inclusive):  What is a government?  
   Why is it important to study government.
-  Took notes:  What is a government?  Why is it important to study government?
-  Completed an assignment (Chapter 1, Section 1:  State, Nation, Nation-State).  If you were absent today, be sure
   to get the worksheet from the Tuesday folder.

Homework:  Finish the assignment by Wednesday;  Notebook due on Friday;  Chapter 1 Test on February 2nd.
