Today in class we discussed reapportionment, redistricting, gerrymandering, Baker v. Carr, Wesberry v. Sanders, and Reynolds v. Sims.  If you were absent, make sure you are confident re: LT 26 and 27.  Additionally watch the video "Drawing District Lines" and get the notes (Jobs of Members of Congress) from a friend. 

The homework is to complete the Congressional Committee worksheet by Monday.

If you were absent today, please make arrangements to make-up the Chapter 4 test.  Also, complete the Reapportionment and Redistricting assignment, which is in the Thursday folder (Chapter 5 will help you.)

  • “Importance of Party Affiliation” on page 134
  • “House Rules Committee” on page 136-137
  • Chapter 5, Section 4 on pages 141-145

1.  Complete the individual assignment (blue paper in the Wednesday folder) and turn it in for a grade. 
2.  Get a copy of the learning targets and vocabulary for the legislative branch from the Wednesday folder. 
3.  Get the notes from a friend (Introduction to the Legislative Branch AND Comparing the House and Senate)\

Homework:
1.  Study for tomorrow's test over Chapter 4.
2.  Complete the following reading assignment by Friday.

1.  Get the following notes from a friend:  Significance of McCulloch v. Maryland, Supremacy Clause, Obligations of national government, Obligations of states. 
2.    Read Chapter 4, Section 2.
3.    Identify the Constitutional provisions for cooperation between the states. 

The homework is to read pages 106-107.
