Today in class we went to the IMC to conduct research for the paper that is due on January 6th. We also (in 3rd block) discussed S.Court cases regarding freedoms of speech and press (4th block attended the Christmas Assembly).
Today in class we finished our discussion of Freedom of Religion and took notes on Freedom of Speech and Press. Remember: Paper is due 1/6/11.

1. Continued with our notebook checks. 2. Took notes on Freedom of Relgion. 3. Completed the following short writing: The Constitution lays down the principle of church-state separation (with the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. Due to this separation, controversy exists over things like school prayer. While prayer in school is limited, the House of Representatives opens its session with prayer everyday. Does this present a constitutional conflict? Why or why not? 4. Studied/Discussed several freedom of religion Supreme Court decisons. HW: Choose a topic for your required project by Wednesday. Project due 1/6 Test 1/11 Final Exam 1/14. Today in class we:

Tuesday, December 14th Today in class we presented our Supreme Court Case to the class and reviewed for tomorrow's quiz over the judicial branch. Also - notebook checks will begin tomorrow. Today in class we:
1. Reviewed the vocabulary from this chapter. 2. Created a flow chart to show the procedures in the Supreme Court. 3. Completed a cooperative learning assignment about significant court decisions. Today in class we identified the responsibilities of the lower federal courts. Thursday, December 9th Today in class we corrected the lower federal court chart and finished our notes on the Supreme Court. We also completed a cooperative learning assignment on judicial activism and judicial restraint. Today in class we:
1. Discussed current events (extension of Bush tax cuts and extension of unemployment benefits). 2. Completed the Chapter 11 Section 1 Individual Assignment. (Copies are in the Tuesday folder). 3.
