4. Remember: Read Chapter 6. Today in class we watched several video clips related to public opinion polling. We also discussed pros and cons of public opinion polling.
If you were absent, complete the following journal writing: Is public opinion polling good for democracy? Why or why not? Also, brainstorm answers to this question: Why does policy not always reflect public opinion? The homework is to read Chapter 6. Today in class we:
1. Discussed how politicians become aware of public opinion. 2. Took notes on public opinion polling. If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend. 3. Identified the steps to conducting a good public opinion poll. 4. Discussed your poll results from yesterday. 5. Watched a series of video clips to identify the pros and cons of public opinion polling. Remember to read Chapter 6. Today in class we:
1. Looked at exit poll data from 2008, 2012, and 2016. 2. Took notes on elite opinion v mass opinion. 3. Identified ways public opinion is measured. 4. Conducted a public opinion poll 5. Compared our poll results to others; Identified reasons for the differences. The homework is to read Chapter 5. Additionally, read Chapter 6 before Thursday. Thursday - Mid Term Exam
