Today in class we finished our study of Chapter 6. We discussed characteristics of likely voters/participants (and discussed how those characteristics are similar to the characteristics of Republicans). We also discussed the factors that influence voting behavior. Finally, we took notes on the Six Forms of Political Participation (Verba and Nie).

1. Discussed the limits of scientific polling, including why it is both good and bad for democracy. 2. Discussed the relationship between public opinion and policy development. 3. Took notes on political participation, including the growth of the electorate, federal regulations for voting, non-voting. On Tuesday we: 1. Identified ways to increase voter turnout. 2. We also received the paper guidelines for the Comparative Unit II paper. Test is Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday, December 7th
Today in class we completed the Mexico vocab quiz and finished our notes on the institutions of Mexico. We also identified the aspects of Mexico's party structure, the characteristics of the three parties, the methods used by the PRI to maintain control, and the reasons the PRI lost control. Finally we analyzed the Fox presidency. Thursday, December 8th Today in class we finished our discussion of Mexico's political parties and took notes on the electoral system, the political culture, and the society. HOMEWORK: Two CE projects are due on or before December 20th. One must be US. One must be comparative. Test - Monday and Tuesday Today in class we started our study of Mexico. If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend.
