Today in class we finished our notes for the UK and identified current issues in the UK. We also watched a video about the May 2010 referendum and talked about Electoral Reform.

On Monday we reviewed the historical development of the UK and took notes on the political institutions. We also watched the 2015 Queen's Speech. If you were absent, it is highly recommended that you watch the video and take notes (make a list of the issues on the policy agenda). In addition to the Queen's speech, we watched other online clips, which are listed below. Finally, there are two articles in the Monday folder. Please read both. We also watched a clip about Parliament and a clip of Prime Minister's questions. If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend and read the article about the Supreme Court, which you can find in the Tuesday folder. Homework: UK Vocab Quiz is Thursday. In your opinion, what are the top three events/policies that led to the democratization of the UK? Defend your answer. Homework: Read Chapter on Britain (Kesselman Ch. 2) before the end of next week. Watched the following video clip about UK/Great Britain: The difference bet_ween the United Kingdom, Great Britain, and England explained. 4. Reviewed the Kesselman Chapter 1 charts for information about Great Britain. 5. Started our study of the historical development of the state. Today in class we finished our study of Iran. We also took brief introductory notes on Great Britain.

Tuesday, 12/ 8 - Today in class we completed a writing assignment and read an article about Iran. Tomorrow we will discuss the various articles in class. The homework is to study for Thursday's quiz. The next CE project is due on 12/22. Topic must be Iran or UK. Submit a paper copy at school before the end of the day on 12/18 OR submit an electronic copy via Moodle. Today in class we discussed Iran's role in the global economy. We also took notes on Iran's current issues. If you were absent, you will need to get the notes from a friend.
With a partner we identified authoritarian characteristics of Iran and democratic characteristics of Iran. You are encouraged to do this on your own. Finally, we completed the following journal entry: What is the future of Iran? Will it continue to be a theocracy? Will its authoritarian tendencies strengthen? Will it become more democratic? -Include three facts to support your position. Homework: 1. Read "The Revolution is Over" by Monday. 2. Bring packet of Iran articles for Monday. 3. Prepare for a content quiz over Iran. It will likely be on Wednesday. 4. One CE project is due no later than 12/22. Topic must be Iran or UK. Today in class we completed the Iran vocabulary quiz, finished the notes on competition and political economy.
The homework is to complete the global economy section of the note packet by Friday and to read the first article in the Economist Special Report packet by Monday. There is no CE project due tomorrow. |
