Today in class we finished our presentations. We also took notes on the Address of the Pennsylvania Minority AND the compromise between the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists. Finally, we started a comparison chart of the differences between the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists (Thursday folder).

1. Celebrated Constitution Day! 2. Reviewed the Contributions on the U.S. Constitution. 3. Discussed the significance of Shays' Rebellion and Annapolis Convention. 4. Started our study of the Constitutional Convention. If you were absent, get the notes from a friend. The homework is to read Federalist Essay #10 and Federalist Essay #51 (both are in the back of your textbook on pages A21-A29) by Wednesday. Today in class we reviewed the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and identified the effects of the weaknesses. We also watched a video about Shays' Rebellion and discussed the significance of the Annapolis Convention. If you were absent, you should watch the video and respond to the questions.

1. Watched this video clip on the Declaration of Independence. As you watch, think about how it reflects the change in philosophy from Divine Right to Social Contract/John Locke. 2. Took notes on the Articles of Confederation. If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend. 3. Read the Articles of Confederation. As you read it, consider the strengths and weaknesses of the government created by the Articles of Confederation. 4. Discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the government under the Articles of Confederation. If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend. 5. For tomorrow, finish reading Chapter 2 AND define Shays' Rebellion and Annapolis Convention. Also determine why the Annapolis Convention was significant. Today in class we:
1. Watched a video clip about the Magna Carta. 2. Completed the Declaration of Independence questions. 3. Finished the Declaration of Independence notes. 4. Discussed the significance of the Declaration of Independence (in terms of its contribution to US government) The homework is to read the rest of Chapter 2 by Friday. |
