Tuesday Today in class we continued our analysis of the Fragile States Index. If you were absent, continue working o it from home. The project/analysis is due before you leave class tomorrow. The Chapter 1 and 2 Quiz is on Thursday. Read Chapter 3 for January 3rd. Thursday - Snow Day
Friday Today in class we finished our discussion of "New Nature of Nation-State Failure" and started the Fragile States Index Project (which is available on Moodle). You will have time to work on the project on Monday during class. We also completed profile notes for Mexico. Be sure to get these from a friend. The quiz over Chapters 1 and 2 will be on WEDNESDAY. Please read Chapter 3 before January 3rd. If you were absent:
1. Complete the following journal writing: Is a federal system better than a unitary system for democracy? If so, why? If not, why not? Defend your answer. 2. Get the notes from a friend. We also started discussion on the article "The New Nature of Nation State Failure". You will move to a group to discuss this tomorrow. Homework: 1. If you'd like to work ahead, begin reading Chapter 3. 2. Quiz Tuesday. If you were absent today:
1. Get the U.K. profile notes from a friend. 2. Be sure that you can explain the difference between state, government, and regime. 3. Get the notes on Ch. 2 from a friend. 4.
