1. Finished our notes for Chapter 6 (democracy). 2. Defined civil liberties and civil rights. 3. Completed notes for Chapter 7 (advanced democracies) 4. Worked with a partner to identify the challenges of advanced democracies. Homework/Reminders: 1. Please bring your O'Neil textbook and your Kesselman textbook to class on Monday. 2. Read Kesselman Chapter 1 by Monday. You may skim sections 1 and 2, but read sections 3 and 4 carefully. It might also prove helpful to take notes on sections 3 and 4. 3. Read Kesselman Chapter 7, Section 1 by Wednesday. 4. The Chapter 5-7 Quiz is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday. Today in class we completed a cooperative learning lesson of presidential v. parliamentary systems. If you were absent, be sure to complete it and turn it in for a grade (see Thursday folder).
We also continued with our Chapter 6 notes (constitutional courts). If you were absent, get the notes from a friend. Today in class we went over the rest of the FR test questions. We also compared presidential and parliamentary systems, including identifying advantages and disadvantages of each.
Remember to read Chapter 7 by tomorrow. The Chapter 5, 6, and 7 Quiz will be next week. Today in class we discussed FRQ #1-4.
We also discussed reasons authoritarian systems may (and may not be) in decline, as well as pros/cons of FPTP and PR electoral systems. Read Chapter 7 by Thursday. If you were absent today:
