I am happy to have the opportunity to work with your student in American Government class. American Government is a required course for all Alma High School seniors. In the course students will study the concepts of democracy and federalism, the Constitution, the political process, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Students will also complete a short unit on Michigan Government. Throughout the course students will participate in a number of activities including: class discussions, working in cooperative learning groups, watching videos, completing daily homework assignments, required term projects, and tests and quizzes. Students will also take notes during lecture. It is required that students keep their notes in a three ring binder.
This week we have been studying the purposes of government and reviewing the various government and economic systems that exist around the world. Next week we will begin our study of the historical development of the US government.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your student. I am looking forward to a successful semester!
