HW: CE due 11/21; Article must be dated for 11/7 or later Begin reading Chapter 12. If you were absent today, be sure to get the How a Bill Becomes a Law notes from a friend. If you'd like to see an example of a filibuster, watch this video. Finally, answer these two questions in your notes:
1. What makes the law making process difficult? 2. Where in the process can citizens have influence? (In other words, what are the points of access for citizens who wish to influence the lawmaking process?) Reminder: The last CE project for this trimester is due on November 21st. The article must be dated for 11/7 or later. Today in class we discussed election results AND took notes on How a Bill Becomes a Law.
The next CE project is due on 11/21. Article must be dated for 11/7 or later. This will be the last CE project of the trimester. Monday:
If you were absent on Monday, be sure to get the notes from a friend (special powers, legislative oversight, non-leg powers). There is no homework. Tuesday: No School (Professional Development Day) If you were absent on Friday:
1. Complete your assigned section of the House Standing Committees and Senate Standing Committees Chart. To access the chart, log in to Moodle and then scroll to the current unit (US Unit II: Institutions of Government). Click the link "House Standing Committees and Senate Standing Committees". Find the committees that have been assigned to you. Conduct research on those committees and then complete your sections of the chart. 2. Complete the following journal writing: Why do you think the founders created a presidential system rather than a parliamentary system? Today in class we completed a self analysis AND completed our study of Article I (both enumerated powers and denied powers). We also discussed the different types of Congressional committees. Remember: CE project is due on 11/5. Article must be dated for 10/19 or later.
