1. Took a pop quiz! If you were absent, see me to find a time to make up the quiz. 2. Recieved a list of court cases -- quiz next week. 3. Took notes on Freedom of Religion. 4. Completed a cooperative learning assignment. Freedom of Religion Cooperative Learning Questions: 1. According to the Thompson reading, what is the cause of recent challenges to freedom of religion? (Be specific) 2. According to Hunter, what two factors have caused the recent challenges to freedom of religion? 3. Whose ideas (Thompson or Hunter) do you find more credible? Why? 4. Do you believe in a “strict separation” of church and state? Why or why not? 5. Can a “strict separation” of church and state be carried to such an extreme that it might violate a person’s right to the “free exercise” of religion? Explain. 5. The homework is to (A) continue reading, (B) political cartoon due Friday, (C) complete the Est. Clause worksheet, and (D) remember that the first review session is tonight! This week in class we:
1. Completed our interest group presentations. 2. Completed the Political Beliefs and Behaviors Test 3. Started our study of the LAST U.S. unit! 4. Took notes on Chapter 15: Public Policy and Chapter 18: Civil Liberties. We also discussed the public policy agenda and the policy coalitions. HW for the weekend: Define Selective Incorporation, Read the Freedom of Religion article, and Read Chapter 15 and 18. Also, remember that one political cartoon is due next week. |
