Today in class we finished our notes on campaigns and elections and started our notes on the role of the media.

Tuesday - Today in class we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of primaries and caucuses, as well as the criticisms of the presidential nomination process. We also identified factors that influence election outcomes and differences in presidential v. congressional campaigns. Finally, we started our notes for Chapter 8. Reminder: Cartoon is due 2/16. Today in class we discussed the pros and cons of open and closed primaries. We also took notes on the differences between primaries and caucuses, as well as on the presidential nomination process. Finally, we watched a video clip of a caucus. The clip (2004 Democratic Caucus) is available on Moodle. It is highly recommended that you watch it. After watching the clip, identify the advantages and disadvantages of caucuses.
