Today in class we discussed issues related to freedom of assembly. We also took notes on rights of the accused and civil rights. If you were absent you will need to get the notes from a friend. Finally, we watched a video about the Civil Rights Movement.

1. Discussed freedom of speech / school dress codes. 2. Read an article of the various court decision regarding school dress codes. 3. Took notes on freedom of assembly and petition. 4. Discussed issues related to assembly and petition. 5. Started our study of the rights of people accused of crimes. The homework is to read Chapter 14, Sections 3-5. Also, your project is due on March 23rd. The tentative test is Wednesday, March 17th. No class today (due to ACT / MME Testing).
Today in class we:
1. Finished the speech and press notes. 2. Identified the limits on free speech. 3. Discussed speech/press Supreme Court cases. 4. Started our study of assembly and petition. Homework: Required Paper is due on Tuesday, March 23rd. Today in class we:
1. Discussed the Lemon Test (from Lemon v. Kurtzman) and other Establishment Clause Supreme Court cases. 2. Discussed limits the Supreme Court has placed on the free exercise of religion. 3. Took notes on Freedom of Speech and Press. The homework is to read Chapter 13, Sections 3 and 4. Today in class we:
1. Took notes on Freedom of Religion. 2. Completed the following writing assignment: The Supreme Court has established the principle of separation of church and state. Based on this, student prayer is limited. However, Congress opens its sessions with prayer. Does a constitutional conflict exist in this case? Why or why not? (Use complete sentences/About 1/2 page) Homework: Complete the freedom of religion chart for tomorrow; Read Chapter 13, Sections 3 and 4. Today in class we:
1. Identified the ways that a person can lose their citizenship. 2. Took notes -- be sure to get the notes from a friend. 3. Watched a video (Bill of Rights/Bill of Responsibilities) Homework: Read "Resp. of Citizens" on page 396-397. List responsibilities on paper provided. Also, read Chapter 13, Sections 1 and 2. Today in class we took notes on how to become a citizen and naturalization. If you were absent, be sure to get the notes from a friend. We also took a citizenship test!
